If you are a fashion lover and use TikTok, you have probably seen Tanya Ravichandran (aka @ttaanyaa) at least once on your feed. Because she is so open about her hairstyle and what she wears, this South Asian influencer has amassed over 1 million followers. As a South Asian fashion editor, I was immediately intrigued by her TikToks. It’s refreshing to see her radiate confidence, especially among the South Asian influencer community. South Asian women don’t usually wear too “revealing” clothes. But Tanya is open about her style, and she doesn’t mind dealing with the haters.

“Life is too short to value other people’s opinions over your own.” “As long you believe you look great in what you wear, and as long as people don’t judge you for your self-expression, confidence will naturally follow.”

With one look at the 19-year-old’s social media accounts, you’ll notice that her style is full of Y2K-inspired pieces. “I believe that personal style should not follow a trend. Most of my Y2K pieces are thrifted. Thrifting allows me to find unique clothes that fit my style.
