Gap and Frank Ape collaborate to launch the first NFTs

Gap, a fashion retailer, has joined the digital art trend by launching its first collection non-fungible tokens.

The NFTs will be released through the energy-efficient blockchain Tezos. Customers will have access to the limited edition artwork and collectible Gap hoodies via unlockable levels: Common, Rare, Epic, and One of A Kind.

Common will be available for purchase on January 13th at an “accessible pricing point”. Other levels will become available in the coming weeks at increasing prices. The artwork will only be available to the first 100 people. Limited editions of Epic and Rare levels will also be available.

The retailer’s first venture in the NFT realm, it has stated its desire to find out more about the needs of its customers.

John Strain, chief digital and technology officer of the brand, stated in a press release that: “Our mission is to build enduring customer relationships. Our teams are constantly innovating. We are excited about all the possibilities that a more earth-friendly blockchain technology will open for us, and all the new ways we can connect with our customers.”

The company also revealed that they are working with other “culture shaping” companies to create more digital experiences in the future.
