admin A dinner at Montesacro Pinseria Romana was my first attempt at pinsa, but I won’t be the last. My dining companion and I ordered the Maranella Pinsa made with mozzarella, broccolini, spicy pork sausage, and stracciatella di burrata. The dish came with large chunks of cheese, and flavorful sausage. This was my preferred topping. It didn’t come with sauce, which I didn’t notice. The flatbread is well worth mentioning. The flatbread is delicious with its rustic texture and heartiness. The Ceci e Barbabietole beet salad and chickpeas salad were also available. We finished the meal with Torta del Ghetto which is a cherry, ricotta and chocolate tart. This was a wonderful meal that I will definitely be returning to soon.
Like their rustic dough and its ancient beginnings, the restaurant itself is a sight to see. It is located in SoMa’s alleys, which San Franciscans refer to as “streets” and transports you to an ancient Roman pinseria or someone’s kitchen with its metal chairs and wooden tables. I definitely recommend this place for gourmet food and the comfortable atmosphere.
