Fendi’s first Milan Fashion Week show was a mere indication that the Rome-based luxury house would be participating in a second show. This one would involve a collaboration between Versace and another Italian luxury brand.
Rumours circulated since Donatella Versace sent a Save-the-date to a special event on Sunday. This is two days after Versace is scheduled to present its SS22 collection. It will be the second appearance at MFW. According to industry sources, Donatella Versace may have teamed up Fendi’s creative directors Silvia Venturini Fendi (and Kim Jones).
This would be the second luxury house pairing since Gucci and Balenciaga’s limited edition collaboration. It is striking that Gucci and Balenciaga both belong to Kering, while Versace and Fendi are part of competing luxury conglomerates. Fendi is owned majority by LVMH and Versace By Capri Holdings, an American group.
Kim Kardashian West posted a photo of herself in Rome in July. Kim Jones and Donatalla Versace were on the other side. The caption of the post simply reads “Legends”. Let’s all wait for Sunday to see the full reveal.
