The best skincare products you can now buy: Dream creams

2021 was a great year for beauty products with many innovative and high-value creams being launched

Although last year is not one that many people want to remember, it was a beautiful year from a beauty perspective. I found what I consider my favorite cleansing balm. I now own three large tubs full of Farmacy’s Green Clean. It’s a PS24 product, and I don’t think I could live without it. It is not thick or gloopy but it is fine and elegant in its formulation. Once it has liquefied, you can use your fingertip heat to remove any remaining makeup. It becomes milky with a little warm water. A quick swipe of a Flannel will remove it completely, without stripping any moisture. It’s perfect.

Despite being mostly at home and having more time to spare, I have simplified my skincare routine over the past twelve months.  Murad’s Vita-C Glycolic Brightening Serum (PS72) does the work of an exfoliant and an antioxidant serum in one pump, applied straight after cleansing. This time-saving invention is perfect for all skin types and ages. It adds instant plumpness and visible glow to your skin, as well as lasting hydration. I am eagerly awaiting a bargain dupe that I can share with my readers: I will report back when it inevitably comes.

Although it might not be fair to include all the skincare brands in my picks, Versed is truly incapable of producing a bad product. Versed is a great brand that makes excellent moisturisers and serums. It’s also reasonably priced and has a consistent product line. Its winning streak continued last year with the release of the Weekend Glow Brightening solution. A liquid exfoliant (PS16.50), for those who don’t need the Murad serum’s 2-in-1 formula. After cleansing, apply the tonic to your face and neck. It will keep your skin smooth, flake-free, and bright. It performs as well as other products, but at three times the cost.

La Roche Posay SPF30 Hydrau B5 Aquagel is a great choice for those who are sensitive to sunscreens. The price of PS34.50 is ideal for those who are sensitive to sunscreens and find them too greasy. The most practical and affordable product in the decade is the  Garnier Ambre Solaire Over Makeup Super UV SPF50 (PS6.50.) It solves the age-old problem that you need to protect your skin without having to remove your makeup. Finally, Medik8’s Advanced Day Ultimate Protect SPF50+ (PS59), is the best facial sunscreen I have ever used for dry skin.
