Skechers unveils Our Planet Matter recycled collection

Skechers launched the recycled collection Our Planet Matters and announced its partnership to The Nature Conservancy, a global environmental non-profit.

There are a variety of products for men, women and children in the collection. This collection includes materials like recycled cotton, rubber, polyester, EVA, and TPU.

“As a global lifestyle brand we have the opportunity to inspire customers of all ages to be more environmentally conscious in every aspect of their lives. Skechers president Michael Greenberg said that Our Planet Matters was a natural step in this direction.”

The product packaging will include information about the recycled content of each item. This is in addition to the durable and washable technology that was included in the project.

The brand committed to donating at least 800,000 dollars to The Nature Conservancy to support its mission to preserve the environment. Skechers has been working for a reduction in tree harvesting and emission, while The Nature Conservancy is focusing on reforestation.

Since 2016, Skechers has seen a 99% reduction in plastic usage. The brand also uses recyclable cartons and environmentally-friendly packaging materials. Skechers ensures that all its materials are FSC-certified, recycled, or ethically harvested.

We are in a climate crisis. The time is now to act. Every one of us can make real changes, one step at a moment. Skechers and our partners can help us inspire millions of people to act for the planet. Our lives depend on it,” Jennifer Hoyer, global director of cause marketing, brand partnerships, The Nature Conservancy.

Skechers continues to reduce its carbon footprint with this latest partnership and collection. Skechers has also begun to use more solar energy at its Manhattan Beach headquarters, where it constructed two LEED-Certified Gold distribution centres. Between 30 and 48 percent of its energy comes from the sun.
