Shein, an online retailer, has named the winner of its Shein X 100k Challenge as Flaws of Couture size-inclusive designer Flaws of Couture. Flaws of Couture won 100,000 dollars and a spot in Shein’s AW21 fashion weeks showcase.
A four-episode series was streamed via Shein’s social media channels. It featured 30 designers creating a three-look collection inspired the theme “Be Bold, Be You”. The judges were presented with the final five finalists after a series of mentoring sessions.
Flaws of Couture won the award for its logo-orientated designs, in bold colors, shapes, and puffer-style jackets. These were her signature forms.
The competition was judged by Khloe Kardashian, a reality star, and Law Roach, a celebrity stylist. It comes at a time when the Chinese fast-fashion retailer is under intense scrutiny. Shein, who is a frequent victim of copyright infringement allegations, has been the subject of a variety of lawsuits. One of these was filed by Dr Martens in June for selling a Martens boot on its website.
The Shein X platform, which offers potential revenue sources, exposure, and workshops, is one of the many accusations. The programme was launched earlier in the year and has now been accepted by up to 50 designers per month.
