Uniqlo, an apparel retailer, has announced that it will open its Beijing flagship store on November 6. This preview of the new location will take place at the 2021 China International Import Expo (CIIE).

Uniqlo will open its first Beijing store and third in mainland China. The new location was designed in respect of Chinese culture and traditions. Uniqlo’s Miao Embroidery Project, a sustainability project that preserves traditional Miao embroidery techniques, will be available at the new location. The store will feature full-scale Miao embroidery, featuring work by local students and Miao embroiderers.

The store will feature China’s first LifeWear-curated in-store experience. This includes products and art installations integrated into the interior design. Beijing Sanlitun will be carrying the entire LifeWear collection, including Uniqlo U collaborations and autumn/winter collaborations. Uniqlo’s UTme! Customers will also be able to create their products in the customisation workshop.

Uniqlo will debut its collaboration with Lao Shu (Chinese artist), in addition to its global selection. Shu’s artworks capture traditional Asian aesthetics, philosophies and are part of the collection.

The retailer will participate in the CIIE for the second year to show apparel through the Art and Science of LifeWear. With the same presentation held last year at the event, the company hopes to demonstrate its commitment to China.
