Has the pandemic kill off the “revenge dress”? Kacey Musgraves teased this week her new album and short movie. These releases are coming after her divorce, and they have deep echoes of Lemonade by Beyonce. The film is described as “a tragedy told in three acts” and uses fashion to tell her story. However, there’s no “revenge gown” look.
Instead, we saw Musgraves in a number of outfits that seemingly semaphore a mix of tragedy and catharsis. A wedding dress is subversive, with extra high heels and eyebrows bejewelled. The dress has a little bit of red tulle and a balaclava. It also features angel wings. After the teaser, a closeup photo of her with a small sword through it was uploaded to her Instagram account.
