Emma Gudmundson, a finalist in Designers’ Nest, has created an exclusive demi-couture collection exclusively for Browns.
Browns purchasing director Ida Petersson hand-picked Gudmundson to create an exclusive collection.
Gudmundson’s unique sustainable capsule collection features handcrafted, vibrant demi-couture gowns inspired by underwater animals. Browns explains that each style is unique and zero-waste. It was created on a domestic knitting machine, and then designed on the body.
Gudmundson released the following statement after launching her exclusive collection. I look forward to the collaboration, and all of the great knowledge this will bring.
“With Ida’s help, I created a unique collection with one-of-a-kind dresses. These dresses were handmade in my Swedish atelier and I am thrilled to see them stocked by my favorite retailer.”
Designers’ Nest is an incubator for Scandinavian fashion graduates. Browns joined the initiative in order to highlight emerging designers and sell their designs internationally. Browns also mentors the scheme, covering everything from prepayment to educating, consulting, and merchandising talent.
Browns womenswear and menswear purchasing director Ida Petersson said: “We got involved with Designers Nest as a way of giving back to the industry, and supporting the next generation graduate talent. We are looking forward to continuing the partnership next year in the hopes that we can uncover some amazing upcoming names, promote them through Browns and introduce our customers to something new and inspiring.”
“Emma’s knitwear is beautiful, visually striking and sustainable. It’s unlike anything I have ever seen. Her work was captivating from the moment I first saw it, and listening to her explain the process only confirmed my love. We are thrilled to welcome Emma into the Browns family.”
Emma Gudmundson’s collection of Browns dresses is now available for purchase at Brownsfashion.com and in Browns boutiques.
