Supporting small businesses locally is important. However, it’s also important to be aware of those who are more directly affected by the current pandemic. They are often overlooked in our urge to help. When stay-at-home orders are enforced, homeless people, refugees, or other people in desperate need, they are often in worse situations. Even though it is difficult to imagine, the situation at Europe’s borders is worse. It is hard to imagine the stress and pressure on people who work in jobs “relevant to maintain the system”. Meanwhile, nurses, caretakers and delivery workers are severely underpaid. It is important to take care and be well so that others can benefit.
