Balmain launches gender-neutral fine jewelry

French fashion house Balmain will be entering the fine jewellery category this summer with a new, gender-neutral offering.

Balmain Fine Jewellery has partnered with the Adorisa Group. This group was founded in Paris in 2021 by Francois Delage, former chief executive of De Beers Jewellers. They will design, produce and market fine jewellery collections under fashion and couture house licences.

The brand released a statement explaining that the collection will be the first fine jewellery collection by Balmain.

The debut collection will include 32 designs, all designed and crafted in Paris by Balmain. All are ethically 18k gold, conflict-free mineral and traceable gemstones.

Jean-Jacques Guevel is the chief executive of Balmain. He stated in a statement that fine jewellery was a natural extension to Balmain’s luxury universe. “We partnered with Adorisa Group to create this new offering, and we look forward building on this unique partnership.”

Rousteing commented on the addition of fine jewellery. Rousteing stated: “For ten year, my team has been carefully blending Monsieur Balmain’s visionary ‘New French Style’ with the house’s distinctively modern and twenty-first century outlook.”

“We’ve created a unique and cohesive Balmain universe by doing this. Every design that emerges from our studio is true to the house’s bold, inclusive spirit and bold silhouette. This makes it easy to recognize a Balmain design. It was therefore important to translate the unique DNA of Balmain into our new, gender-neutral jewellery collection.”

Balmain has not shared any details about the 32 designs. However, if the spring/summer 2022 show is anything to go by, expect a bold statement like the fashion house’s signature motif, the oversized gold chain that was scaled down to make sexy, halter-neck tops.

Francois Delage, chief executive of Adorisa, said that he was proud to be a true partner with Olivier Rousteing as well as Balmain. “We like to think that we are connectors and facilitators. That is why we worked closely with Olivier, his team and used our expertise to ensure that the house’s distinctive attitude and Olivier’s creative vision were perfect translated into Balmain’s first fine jewellery collection. Balmain shares our deep commitment to sustainability and craftsmanship.”

Balmain’s fine jewellery collection will be sold worldwide in boutiques of leading luxury multi-brand jewellers as well as fashion addresses starting in summer 2022.
